Art: November Of 2025 - May Of 2026

Aa

This was the period when I tried everything: IbisPaint → Infinite Painter → Mojing Paint → HiPaint. I was looking for software that wouldn't glitch, and a technique that would let me draw faster and more confidently. Here are experiments, mistakes, and the first victories.

I hadn't drawn anything for a long time. There were several sketches I wanted to finish… I finished this one.
Drawing is hard, especially when you doubt yourself and your skills. But you have to keep going.
Those who stop never get anywhere.

I found a new drawing program, HiPaint. It's incredible, almost like Photoshop. And, more importantly, it has an excellent stabilization tool for tablets without pressure sensitivity support. It also supports layers, masks, and so on.

Originally, I wanted to draw Sadako from the Japanese movie “Ring,” but then the idea evolved into something more original. I believe that art, even the most imperfect kind, can serve as a reflection of emotions, and that alone can add a certain depth to your drawing. Even if it's just another portrait of another sad girl, - and there will probably be plenty more of those.

Art is therapy, and therapy is a journey, not a destination. But every finished drawing is already a step forward. Don't stop on your journey.

2025-04-19 - Curiosity

Well, I didn't think anything would come of this, - but apparently something did. A drawing without a sketch, just starting from scratch on a tablet. I went through several iterations, showed it to Qwen, got friendly feedback like “the eyes are too big, the eyebrows could also be a little wider,” made changes, showed it again… in the end, the rough draft turned into something good in its own way. Yes, I didn't suddenly become able to draw at a super high quality in one go, but it's still one more step forward and one more boost to my confidence. With every little drawing like this, you can feel your brain rewiring itself to think… well, like an artist. It's an interesting feeling. Overcoming fear means encouraging curiosity.

HiPaint, several evenings, no Gen AI - upscale only.

It’s okay not to be okay.

I hadn't drawn anything for a long time, - creative block is a terrible thing. But the absence of creativity is even more exhausting than creativity itself… and you know what? I've noticed a paradoxical thing: for some reason, I do better when I pick up a stylus/pencil/pen and tell myself, “I can do this badly, it's just creativity, it's for myself, I can allow myself to be imperfect” - and the result turns out surprisingly good. At the very least, better than when I think, “Oh, I'll make a beautiful drawing and post it on DeviantArt/Tumblr, other people will see it…” - then it definitely doesn't turn out very well. And that kills all motivation… and we need motivation. Just like we need creativity.
I don't know how else to survive these terrible times except through creativity.
Please make it.

Then I picked up a pencil and realized I wanted to try something different. And that became the beginning of a new stage.
