Ginny & Georgia. Season 3 Review (2025)

Georgia is a young single mother who rose from the bottom and travelled across the country with her two children. Her journey was long (and not always respectable), but she achieved everything on her own, married the mayor of a small town, and everything is wonderful for her. Except that she was arrested for murder right at her wedding, and now her daughters, relatives, acquaintances, friends, and enemies will have to do something about it.

It's a good season. In fact, it's excellent. The finale was a little bit of a letdown, and the first two episodes were *awful* (probably because of the need to continue the abrupt ending of the second season and reintroduce the characters who had been forgotten over the past two years... plus we're a little out of practice with American series because of Korean dramas), but everything else gets my respect. The stakes are constantly rising, the situation is getting worse and worse, expectations are constantly being betrayed, the characters suffer and go through one crisis after another - in the end, the happy ending turns out to be empty. The main characters experience emotional growth, but the mother and daughter switch places. Something breaks in Georgia and she decides to stick to her principles for the sake of her children, while Ginny has to grow up even more and make several decisions that will come back to haunt her (and I'm not talking about abortion at all). Maxine is devastated, her brother Marcus, already a repeat offender, goes to rehab. And the main men of the series... oh, they all showed themselves in a bad light. And that will come back to haunt them too.
 
In short, it's a great season, episodes 3-9 are just wonderful. At times, it felt like I was watching a second Euphoria, even though Zendaya and Ginny are visually a bit similar. But Ginny - she's really cool this season. A very mature high school girl, smart and thoughtful, fighting the darkness inside and outside herself, protecting her mother and brother as best she can. There is even a kind of wisdom, honesty, naturalness, humanity and vulnerability in her. In the first and second seasons, she was a rebellious teenager who annoyed me a little, and I paid more attention to her enchanting mother, a blonde goddess, but this time... well, they are both equal. And they can't do without each other. That's it.

Now I'm especially interested in what will happen next. Who is Georgia's unexpected child from? Will she be with the hot and kind bearded Hindu who has been in love with her for a hundred years? What will the mayor do, who abandoned her at the most difficult moment and lost? How will poor Oscar, who betrayed his own father (a jerk and an abuser, but nonetheless), cope with the events? What will Ginny herself do, now that everything is finally going well for her? Things never go well in stories like this. After all, it is a drama.
 
And a pretty good one at that.

Джинни и Джорджия (3-й сезон)

Джорджия - поднявшаяся с самого низа молодая мать-одиночка, кочующая по стране с двумя детьми. Ее путь был долгим (и не всегда добропорядочным), но она добилась всего сама, вышла замуж за мэра небольшого городка и все у нее замечательно. Вот только ее арестовали по обвинению в убийстве прямо на свадьбе - и теперь ее дочери, близким, знакомым, друзьям и недругам придется что-то с этим делать.

Хороший сезон. В процессе даже отличный. Финал чуточку смазали, и первые две серии были *отвратительными* (видимо, из-за необходимости продолжить резкую концовку второго сезона и заново представить забывшихся за два года героев… плюс мы немного отвыкли от американских сериалов из-за корейских дорам), но все остальное - мое почтение. Ставки постоянно поднимаются, ситуация становится все хуже и хуже, ожидания постоянно обманываются, герои страдают и переживают один кризис за другим - в итоге счастливый конец оказывается пустышкой. Главные героини переживают эмоциональный рост, но мать и дочь меняются местами. В Джорджии что-то ломается и она решает придерживаться принципов ради своих детей, а Джинни приходится взрослеть еще больше и сделать несколько решений, которые ей еще аукнутся (и я совсем не про аборт). Максин оказывается разбитой, ее брат, уже второгодник, Маркус отправляется в рехаб. А главные мужчины сериала… о, они все себя показали не в лучшем виде. И это им тоже должно вернуться.
 
Короче, отличный сезон, серии 3-9 - просто прекрасные. Иногда мне казалось, что я смотрю вторую “Эйфорию” - даром что Зендея и Джинни визуально немного похожи. Но Джинни - в этом сезона она действительно очень крутая. Совсем взрослая девушка-старшеклассница, умная и вдумчивая, борющаяся с тьмой внутри себя и снаружи, защищающая свою мать и брата, как может. В ней есть какая-то даже мудрость, честность, естественность, человечность и уязвимость. В первом и втором сезона она, бунтующий подросток, меня немного подбешивали и я больше следил за ее фееричной мамашей, белокурой богиней, а в этот раз… ну, они обе равны. И без друга не могут. Вот.

Теперь мне особенно интересно, что будет дальше. От кого у Джорджии неожиданный ребенок? Будет ли она вместе с горячим и добрым бородатым индусом, который в нее сто лет как влюблен? Что будет делать мэр, который бросил ее в самый сложный момент и проиграл? Как перенесет события бедный мальчик Оскар, оговоривший родного отца (мудака и абьюзера, но тем не менее)? Что будет делать сама Джинни, у которой все наконец хорошо?.. Хорошо же не бывает в таких историях. Все-таки это драма.
 
И драма довольно хорошая.
