Squid Game (오징어 게임, Игра в кальмара) Season 3 Review (2025)

Son Gi-hoon, a weak-willed klutz who miraculously survived all the trials of the brutal Squid Game, solved all his financial problems and suffered emotional scars that will last a lifetime. He tries to move on with his life, but realises that his conscience won't allow him to stand idly by, so he decides to put an end to the horrific murders for the sake of the show, even if it means returning to the game complex and reliving that hell. But this time, at least he knows all the rules and what to expect from the Administrators... or does he?

It turns out he doesn't.

The attempted uprising fails. Due to a couple of coincidences and the deliberate betrayal of a planted player who turned out to be one of the masked Administrators, the barely alive Son Ki-hoon returns to the dormitory hall broken, many of his comrades having died before his eyes, while those in favour of continuing the games are only encouraged by the increased jackpot. The Squid Game continues, and the stakes in this game are humanity and compassion in inhuman conditions, where kindness means death.

I was even upset when I read a few reviews before watching it, but then I gave up and read all the spoilers. But... it didn't spoil the viewing experience itself. I knew what to expect and was able to better understand the authors' intentions. It really is a story about humanity in inhuman conditions. 

Well, - fuck, what can I say else. A devastating ending. They squid-gaming everyone all over the place. 

Gloomy, very gloomy. Everyone died, the game ended, the rich guys left, the guards were evacuated, and the concentration camp island with all the traces of murder was blown up. The only player who survived was the one who appeared in the process, which hints at something.

It was... interesting. Exciting in places, but mostly painful. No one normal made it to the final finale, only a group of rich bastards who loved negotiations, voting and reasoning along the lines of "what's the big deal about killing a child, it was unfair to bring him into the game in the first place, so it's only fair" — and Son Ki-hoon, who found his second calling in protecting the baby from the girl who trusted him but couldn't go any further (and no one helped her).

7/10, they wrapped it up nicely. Was such an ending necessary?

I think so. It's justified. In the first season, the main idea was ‘capitalism is bad, eat the rich,’ but here the focus is a little broader - ‘people turn themselves into beasts by their own choice, it is possible to preserve humanity in inhuman conditions, but sometimes at too high a price.’ This is more interesting. The way people build a concentration camp themselves, accepting the imposed rules of the game and continuing to ***democratically vote*** for the continuation of death and murder — simply because of the thought, ‘Well, I'll definitely make it to the final, it's the other 455 people who are losers and failures.’ And the finale: they could have all stopped and left alive, even if not with the amount of money they had hoped for, but no, they didn't make it to the finale at all.

Игра в кальмара (3-й сезон)

Сон Ки Хун - слабовольный недотепа, который чудом пережил все испытания жестокой “Игры в кальмара”, решил все финансовые проблемы и получил душевные раны на всю жизнь. Он пытается жить дальше, но понимает, что совесть не позволит ему стоять  стороне, - и поэтому он решает положить конец чудовищным убийствам ради шоу, даже если для этого придется вернуться в игровой комплекс и снова пережить этот ад. Но в этот раз он хотя бы знает все правила и чего ожидать от Распорядителей… или нет?

Выходит, что нет. 

Попытка восстания провалилась. Из-за пары случайностей и намеренного предательства подсадного игрока, который оказался одним из Распорядителей в масках, Чуть живой Сон Ки Хун возвращается в зал-общежитие сломленным, многие из его соратников погибли у него на глазах, а сторонники продолжения игр только воодушевлены увеличившимся кушем. “Игра в кальмара” продолжается и ставка в этой игре - человечность и сострадание в нечеловеческих условиях, где доброта означает смерть.

Я даже расстроился, когда прочитал несколько отзывов до просмотра, - а потом махнул рукой и прочел все спойлеры. Но… сам просмотр это не испортило. Я знал, чего ожидать, и смог лучше понять замысел авторов. Это действительно история о человечности в нечеловеческих условиях. 

Ну пиздец, конечно. Опустошающая концовочка. Накальмарили вообще всех. 

Мрачно, очень мрачно. Все погибли, игра закончилась, богачи смотались, охранников эвакуировали, остров-концлагерь со всеми следами убийств - взорвали. Выжил из игроков только тот, кто появился в процессе, что как бэ намекает.

Это… было интересно. Местами увлекательно, но больше - больно. До финального финала вообще никто нормальный не дошел, только группа богатых уебанов, обожающих переговоры, голосования и рассуждения в духе “да что там ребенка убить, его вообще ввели в игру нечестно, так только справедливо будет” - ну и Сон Ки Хун, нашедший второе призвание в защите младенца от девушки, которая ему доверилась, но не смогла пройти дальше (и ей никто не помог).

7/10, нормально закальмарили. Нужно ли было такое завершение? 

Думаю, да. Оно оправдано. В первом сезоне главная мысль была “капитализм - плохо, ешь богатых”, а здесь фокус чуть шире - “люди делают из себя зверей по собственному выбору, сохранить человечность в нечеловеческих условиях - можно, но иногда слишком высокой ценой”. Это уже интереснее. То, как люди сами строят концлагерь, принимая навязанные правила игры и продолжают ***демократически голосовать*** за продолжение смертей и убийств - просто из-за мысли “ну я-то до финала точно дойду, это остальные 455 человек - лохи и неудачники”. Ну и финал: могли бы все прекратить и уйти на волю живыми, пусть и не с такой суммой, на какую рассчитывали, - так нет же, в финал вообще не прошел.
